Historically Carstairs has been an agricultural community, boasting at one point 7 grain elevators in town. It celebrates each year with the Ranch Rodeo, Beef & Barley Days, the annual rodeo, High School Rodeo, 4-H Calf show and Sale, Bull-A-Rama, the Horticulture show, and Pumpkin Festival.
